THE POSITION

Aging Case Aid 2 is a rewarding position for a patient, compassionate, and organized individual who enjoys helping senior citizens find resources to lead more productive, safe, and happy lives while maintaining as much independence as possible. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will assist our community members at the Adult Daily Living and Senior Center in Hawley, Pennsylvania through wide variety of duties from personal care tasks to other practical needs. Our team provides on-the-job training and in-service training sessions and seminars develop your knowledge and skills for all duties in this role.

Responsibilities at the Adult Daily Living Center will include providing routine non-professional care services on a daily basis for consumers with significant cognitive and/or physical disabilities, and whose families need respite from such care. Your work will give essential support and assistance to individuals in their daily activities and well-being. You will provide personal care assistance, health monitoring, rehabilitative support, and nutritional assistance as well as facilitate recreational activities, ensure safety and supervision, and adhere to care plans and safety protocols.

Responsibilities at the Hawley Senior Center will involve practical office and community work that keeps our agency effective and connected. You will be providing health insurance counseling, assisting with various service applications, providing outreach to encourage participation, organizing activities and events, resolving conflicts, attending meetings to disseminate information, arranging transportation, maintaining informational displays, utilizing computer systems for data management, substituting at other centers when needed, collecting donations, conducting classes, overseeing volunteers, serving meals, and contributing to newsletters.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are flexible in scheduling and will involve duties in two settings: the Senior Center and the Adult Daily Living Center in Hawley.
  • Employee may have overnight travel or out of county travel for meetings or training.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Aging Case Aide 1; or
  • Two years of public contact work, including one year in a human services program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening. A physical and tuberculosis test are required.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
