What you will do

Johnson Controls is seeking a dynamic and results-driven IT Governance Director to lead our Governance team as part of the Chief Digital Information office, oversee the strategy of IT governance. The ideal candidate will have experience driving IT change, data focused, metrics/KPI's, capacity management that enhances our operational effectiveness. How you will do it

  • Create and share the IT governance vision to align with business goals.

  • Lead the IT governance framework and ensure compliance with policies.

  • Set and track performance indicators to evaluate IT operations.

  • Oversee vendor relationships and performance.

  • Develop strategies to improve supplier performance and align with organizational goals.

  • Work with leadership to define and implement the IT strategy, focusing on capacity management and data insights.

  • Promote collaboration and effective working methods across teams.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for process enhancement.

  • Conduct workshops and training to introduce new practices within the IT team.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate best practices in governance.

  • Lead transformations that align with organizational goals, ensuring successful adoption of new technologies.

  • Monitor industry trends and integrate relevant practices into the IT strategy.

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs and align with IT initiatives.

  • Communicate IT strategies and performance effectively across the organization.

  • Mentor and develop the team to create a collaborative, high-performing environment.

  • Set clear goals, provide feedback, and offer training opportunities to encourage professional growth.

  • Design and enforce a governance framework with policies and standards for project management.

  • Update the framework as needed to reflect industry changes and organizational needs, including adopting Agile practices.

  • Create KPIs to measure IT success and governance effectiveness.

  • Report regularly on project performance to senior leadership.

  • Ensure all IT governance processes meet internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

What you will need
Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, Business administration, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in IT leadership role with focus on Supplier management, governance, project management, process, compliance and transformation.

  • Proven track record of success in a leadership role within similar environment.

  • Ability to drive organization changes, and implement new ways of working.

  • Relevant certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), PgMP (Program Management Professional), PMI-RMP (Risk Management Professional), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), or similar.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

  • Excellent analytics and problem-solving skills, data driven approach to decision making.

  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools. Working knowledge of risk management.
