Job Summary:

Qlarant is seeking a dedicated and analytical Data Analyst II to join our proactive data analytics team on a full-time, regular basis. As a Data Analyst II, you will play a crucial role in interpreting data and turning it into information which can lead to success investigations and referrals. You will gather information from various sources and interpret patterns and trends. As a key member of the analytics team, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to combat fraud, waste and abuse in the Medicare Parts C & D arena. You will design and carry out analyses to draw both qualitative and quantitative conclusions. Your role will involve presenting data in a clear and compelling way, using graphical representations and data visualizations. Perform study design, data analysis, data modeling, documentation, and report preparation. Studies originate from preliminary data analysis (trends), literature review, experience and expertise of the team, and mandated projects. Data analysis, including data preparation and presentation of findings, is performed in conjunction with other analysts. Reports are drafted by teams with leadership of Data Managers or Scientists.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:


  • Trend data to identify potential opportunities (e.g., variances, significant outliers, percentile ranked groups).
  • Design data analysis strategies to identify potential areas for a focused investigation.
  • Analyze data, draw conclusions, and summarize.
  • Develop tabular and graphical presentations of data.
  • Depending upon the project, assist with and/or performs statistical analysis or predictive modeling to detect aberrancies and fraud.
  • Utilize commonly used concepts, practices and procedures, relying on instructions, pre-established guidelines and mentor's input to perform the functions of the job.
  • Leverage standardized reporting and stored processes to meet customer deliverables.
  • Contribute to, develop and deliver presentations to internal and external customers.

Required Experience

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or related discipline (e.g., Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science) required.
  • Coursework, academic projects, internships and/or work experience utilizing one or more data science programming languages (e.g., SQL, R, Python, SAS, etc.) required.
  • Strong experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL etc.), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks) preferred.
  • Experience with creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc preferred.
  • Prior experience in a similar role, preferably within the healthcare, insurance, or related industries preferred.
