Corrections Activities Specialist - SCI Pine Grove

As a Corrections Activities Specialist for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for enhancing the daily lives of inmates, as you work towards reducing recidivism rates by empowering inmates with the tools and resources necessary for successful reentry into society. You will work closely with correctional staff and community partners to ensure that activities are safe, constructive, and compliant with institutional policies. Specific duties will include scheduling, coordinating, and teaching programs at all levels of interest and ability in the areas of sports, games, creative and performing arts, and social recreation. You will be coaching or assisting in the coaching of various sports (basketball, soccer, power lifting, etc.) and demonstrate basic sports techniques and fitness equipment. You will be responsible for supervising inmate organizations and self-help groups.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
• Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $63,343.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree with major course work in recreation and physical education; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
