About the Role:

The Support Specialist Intern will provide support to end users for basic computer, application, system, device, access, and hardware issues. Identifies, researches, and resolves routine technical issues of low complexity. Responds to phone, email, and online requests for technical support. Documents, tracks, and monitors the issue using applicable systems and tools. May coordinate with other teams or departments to resolve user issues. May perform password re-sets for users.

What You'll Do

  • Utilizes a support ticket system for employee incident reporting, tracking, and resolution
  • Assists with technical support related to computer systems, hardware, and software
  • Answers basic queries and addresses system and user issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Works with the IT team and interacts with system and computer users across the company
  • Assists with training users on basic system and computer functions
  • Proactively maintains daily system performance, troubleshoots issues, and follows-up/follows-through with essentials aspects of the day-to-day functions
  • Assists with maintaining computer systems
  • Responsible for PCs, Printers, and related equipment (monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, etc.)
  • Assists with maintaining user PCs, including upgrades and configurations as needed
  • Assists with onboarding and offboarding of users
  • Assists with the monitoring of inventory for all equipment, software, and license users
  • Assists with installations, configurations, and upgrades of PC software
  • Remains up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices
  • Learns from and studies experienced IT Support Specialists' techniques and work
  • Remains current with skills by attending training classes, independent research, and seminars as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 0 - 1 year of related experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and reasoning skills
  • Creative, self-motivated, and driven
  • Detail oriented and analytically driven with excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent organizational, project planning and time management skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Willing to learn new technologies
  • Knowledge of computer systems, PC repair, and network management
  • Ability to deploy, configure, and support operating systems on desktop and mobile
  • Works under close direction as well as in a team environment

  • Frequently in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasional bending/kneeling
  • Manual dexterity required for keyboard use, operating office equipment, grasping objects

  • Primarily an office setting, with occasional visits to the factory floor
  • Office is clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated
  • Office noise levels are considered low to moderate
  • Factory noise levels are considered moderate
  • If required, PPE will be provided
  • May require travel up to 5%
