JOB SUMMARY
This position works under close supervision to provide administrative functions to support the day to day operations of the community outreach function in the department. Maintains community data for catchment area. Assists in the development and/or promotion of various projects that further the mission of reducing health disparities via community outreach and engagement.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education


    • Bachelor's Degree in pre-health or public health related field; -OR-
    • High School Diploma or equivalent -OR-




  • Experience


    • No experience required with Bachelors degree -OR-
    • 4 years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment, with High School Diploma.




Preferred



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign) is a plus.
  • Experience working in community health or public health settings, with knowledge of cancer control preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities preferred.
  • Experience in developing health education materials and curricula.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, particularly in creating engaging newsletter content.
  • Strong communication and engagement skills
  • Community Health Worker and/or Certified Health Education Specialist a plus


Work Schedule:



  • Eligible for hybrid work schedule
  • This role will require participation in some weekend and/or evening events. Weekday schedule will be adjusted accordingly for a 40-hour work week.
  • This role includes local travel in personal vehicle to community sites and events with mileage reimbursement provided for trips over 20 miles roundtrip.


JOB DUTIES



  • Delivers informational/educational programs for patients, family members, and/or the public.
  • Attends and provides cancer information and resources at various health fairs and community events.
  • Assists in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with community partners.
  • Assists in development and/or promotion of projects and health education materials that further the mission of reducing health disparities via community outreach.
  • Assesses the needs of community members who contact the Cancer Answer Line.
  • Utilizes professional and technical resources to answer questions and provide tailored information about cancer prevention, treatment, clinical trials, and supportive care resources.
  • Maintains community data and contact information for catchment area.
  • Responsible for maintenance of tracking systems for community outreach.
  • Supports volunteer recruitment and Speaker's Bureau coordination.
  • Performs administrative functions to support departmental community outreach and engagement efforts.
  • Duties include but not limited to procurement of materials and supplies, timekeeping, monthly newsletter, responsibility for meeting logistics and event preparation, daily support of community inquiries and expense tracking.
