Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced Principal Water/Wastewater Project Manager to join our growing team in Jacksonville, FL. This Key Account Leader must have strong leadership and program management experience and direct business development experience during their career, with the ability to generate project leads, build client relationships, and win work.

This opportunity offers excellent potential for professional growth and the opportunity to collaborate not only with water resources personnel, but with our many practices including dams, geotechnical, energy, and transportation.

Responsibilities include:



  • Leads and manages water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure projects from conception to completion in Florida.
  • Serves as a Key Account Leader responsible for creating and growing relationships with one or more clients, as a representative of the project team and Mott MacDonald.
  • Manages project timelines and ensures projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Supervises and direct prepares plans and specifications for new facilities and rehabilitation of existing facilities.
  • Develops project plans, scopes, and budgets.

    • Ensures projects comply with relevant standards, regulations, and codes.
    • Leads the technical development of proposals.


  • Serves as a mentor by providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, stakeholders, and other parties involved in the project.

    • Delegates tasks and responsibilities effectively.
    • Provides feedback and coaching to team members.





We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:



  • BS degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida
  • 15-25 years total experience in planning, design, and construction management of water, and wastewater infrastructure projects with a significant portion of total experience being in Florida for major utility clients.

    • Experience with JEA and SJCUD is preferred but not required.


  • Strong technical skills and technical leadership experience, preferably including water or wastewater treatment plants
  • 8+ years experience in managing multi-discipline project teams; water/wastewater specific is preferred
  • 8+ years experience in managing proposals for engineering projects; water/wastewater specific is preferred
  • Experience in managing and growing client relationships.
