Cost Accounting Manager

We have an excellent opportunity for an accomplished Cost Accounting Manager to join our team in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Our ideal candidate will provide critical advice and guidance to Operations at three manufacturing facilities. This role will have a significant impact on major business decisions and will be crucial to the success of our organization. You will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing costs and their development associated with manufacturing clients' products, including in-house manufacturing, outsourced manufacturing, and bought-out materials and services.

Responsibilities:




  • Planning, analyzing, and collecting data to determine costs of business activities, such as cost rates/work center rates and various overhead allocation rates.
  • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing regular analyses/reports.
  • Calculating estimates of new and proposed product costs.
  • Performing Production order post calculations.
  • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Identifying, developing, and maintaining relevant dashboards, scorecards, and key performance indicators.
  • Analyzing deviations and working closely with Operations to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Coordinating physical count and cycle count programs, as well as analyzing variances.
  • Reconciling inventory accounts.
  • Preparing inventory reserves calculation and analysis.
  • Participating in the preparation of capital requests and making NPV calculations.
  • Conducting Month-end Close of the General Ledger and Reporting.
  • Participating in annual budget and monthly forecast preparations.
  • Interfacing with external auditors.
  • Undertaking additional work assignments based on organizational needs.



Qualifications:




  • Technological and Systems: Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Process Implementation/Optimization: Proven track record of experience in evolving processes within manufacturing environments.
  • Strategic and Tactical Skills: Strong strategic thinking and tactical execution abilities.
  • Costing Systems Knowledge: Expertise in various costing systems (actual, standard, ABC), including calculation of labor and machine rates, overhead allocation rates, productivity and efficiency, absorption variances, COGS, bill-of-materials, manufacturing routings, inventory management, and valuations.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports and analyses.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work closely with Operations and other finance team members to identify cost reduction opportunities.



Education/Experience:




  • 5-7 years of costing and budgeting experience in an engineering-to-order manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience.
  • MBA and CMA preferred.
  • Strong technology and systems skills with proven experience in ERP (D365 preferred) and Advanced Excel.
  • Ability to collaborate across all functions and projects at various levels within the organization.
  • Strong partnership ability to work closely with other finance and operations team members.
  • Ability to work independently on complex problems with minimal guidance.
  • Proven experience and good judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve optimal results.
