Job Title: Hardware Application Designer Job Location: Pittsburgh, PA Job Type: Full Time Duties: Interface existing hardware products into larger wayside and vehicle systems. Prepare documentation for hardware subsystem and associated bill of materials. Prepare customer documentation and present the subsystem to customers during design reviews, including providing aid in understanding the hardware products and design. Analyze existing system architecture to identify points of connection for equipment into the larger wayside or vehicle system, in order to ensure that the correct interface exists, and assist in testing and configuration. Contribute to the elaboration of hardware specification and architecture, in collaboration with the Hardware Architect. Perform product hardware integration, confirming technical choices and ensuring compliance with input and output requirements by performing verification analysis (computations, models, simulation or mock-up). Define general plans for mechanical integration in collaboration with mechanical engineers. Define electrical schematics and Bill Of Materials. Work with industrialization teams to ensure that product hardware design can be manufactured, tested and repaired. Prepare laboratory development systems and setups using hardware products and equipment for verification testing. Place hardware work product under configuration management according to product Configuration Management Plan. Support hardware and software integration, together with the Hardware Architect and Software Designer. Support hardware validation of products including environmental qualification and type tests. 25% domestic travel required. Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Hardware Application Designer-related occupation.
