Position Purpose
The Research Computing Consultant III ( RCCIII) serves as a bridge between high-performance computing, data science, and education. This role provides computational expertise to support interdisciplinary research while training the next generation of biomedical data scientists. The RCCIII leverages expertise in computational workflows, statistical modeling, and advanced computing techniques to develop solutions for researchers. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and graduate-level teaching in biomedical data science.
The RCCIII reports to the Director of Research Computing, with a secondary reporting line to the Assistant Dean, Health Sciences Master's Programs.

Dartmouth College invites applications for the position of Research Computing Consultant III (RCCIII-QBS), a unique opportunity to engage in both cutting-edge research computing and graduate-level teaching. This role is a collaboration between Dartmouth's Research Computing team (ITC) and the Health Sciences Master's Programs, providing the opportunity to support computational research while mentoring and teaching future biomedical data scientists.

About the Role
The Research Computing Consultant III will:


  • Partner with faculty and researchers to develop scalable high-performance computing (HPC) and data science solutions for interdisciplinary research.

  • Design and implement computational workflows, statistical models, and machine learning applications to support biomedical and data-driven research.

  • Teach and mentor graduate students in courses focused on biomedical data science, statistics, and computational methodologies.

  • Develop and optimize research computing strategies, including cloud-based analytics, data security, and advanced visualization techniques.

  • Lead training initiatives and outreach, supporting faculty and student researchers in leveraging computational resources effectively.

  • Develops and delivers graduate-level coursework in biomedical data science, focusing on computational skills, statistical modeling, and reproducible research.
  • Designs and refines curricula, assessments, and project-based learning activities.
  • Leads instruction in QBS courses such as Statistics, Data Wrangling and Programming Bootcamp, while mentoring graduate students.
  • Collaborates with faculty to enhance interdisciplinary coursework and integrate advanced computational methodologies.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, program development, and student support initiatives.
