The Position

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Systems Specialist with a focus on lab automation to join the newly established Cell Therapy Department in gRED. The ideal candidate will design, develop, implement, operate, and maintain automated systems for complex pluripotent stem cell culture, process development and analytical assays. You will collaborate with other systems specialists, scientists, data engineers, software developers and external vendors to ensure regular maintenance of instrumentation, perform quality control, and implement best practices for automation and LIMS integration. Who you are

We are looking for candidates who have the following key attributes: proven track record of designing and implementing solutions to complex workflows is essential, work independently in a highly collaborative environment with a positive, problem-solving attitude, be process oriented, and possess strong analytical thinking, communication skills and attention to detail.

  • BS with 12+ years experience, MS with 10+ years experience or PhD with 7+ experience in science, engineering disciplines or equivalent experience and an excellent record of leading significant efforts in automation, data management, and/or functional operations

  • Understanding of basic scientific principles in biology, cell biology, genetic engineering or similar disciplines

  • Operational expertise with operating, programming, and integrating automation instrumentation and peripherals including but not limited to automated incubators, liquid handling platforms (e.g. Biomek, Hamilton, Tecan, Agilent), plate washers (e.g. BioTek), centrifuges, cell counters, and imagers

  • Experience with integrating instrument and process QC data with LIMS tools

  • Experience working independently or with external vendors and service providers to make system modifications and improvements (e.g. hardware or software, new driver request, etc.), troubleshoot, coordinate PM/repair visits, whenever necessary

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to details, ability to prioritize tasks, interact professionally and patiently with all levels of staff and external partners is required

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with automation scheduling software (e.g. GreenButtonGo, Thermo Momentum, HiRes Cellario, etc.) is highly preferred

  • Knowledge of databases, cloud computing, and programming languages such as Python/C# is a plus

  • Prior knowledge on cell culture and molecular biology workflows is preferred

Relocation benefits are available for this posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $138,500 and $257,100. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
