Job Summary: The Academic Advisor I provides guidance to University students on academic progress, courses, University resources, etc. Identifies courses to be completed in upcoming semesters. Explains University and College policies. May teach compass course as needed. Additional Department Summary: Provides the academic advising of all UA Early College students. Develops each student's annual plan of study. Oversees approval of academic plans. Ensures that students enroll in appropriate academic courses. Coordinates communication between appropriate UAEC faculty and staff, UAEC parents, and high school personnel. Maintains appropriate database systems and records. Assists in marketing, recruiting, and coordination of delivery of UA Early College programs and services. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of work experience in K-12, higher or continuing education, or technology. Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and travel occasionally as needed. Skills and Knowledge: Ability to plan, develop, and administer academic advising. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work with various groups of high school-age students and educators. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education, instructional technology, communications, or business. Experience with database management. Experience with customer relationship management systems. Experience with UA systems (i.e. Banner, SARS).
