JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment used in utility line construction. Work is based out of our Helena Montana shop.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • High school diploma, or GED certificate or equivalent schooling its equivalent.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience and/or training in vehicle or construction equipment repair or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Prior Experience and/or training repairing light and medium duty vehicles.
  • Candidate should have knowledge & experience with the safe use of tools typically found in a shop setting.
  • An understanding of the rules and requirements of DOT inspections will be needed for success in this role.
  • An advanced knowledge of OSHA requirements applicable to equipment operations, repair, and maintenance is needed.


KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES


  • Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining light to medium-duty engines, including emission systems, electrical systems, and air systems.
  • Knowledge in conducting DOT inspections, fluid changes, brake servicing, and scheduled maintenance to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
  • Familiarity with performing basic welding, fabrication, or component modifications to support fleet repairs or enhancements.
  • Skills include use of power and hand tools, use of diagnostic equipment and experience with operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
  • Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a timely manner.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Diagnoses, rebuilds, and repairs all light and medium duty vehicles which are used in utility line construction. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, Ford, Chevy, and Dodge pickups, digger derricks, bucket trucks.
  • Orders/Requisitions new parts as needed for equipment repairs. Follows company procedures with regards to purchase order process and approval.
  • Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Responsible for the shops, plant, and parking areas. Including general housekeeping and appearance, disposal of trash, parts and materials that have no value. Re-cycle scrap and sell off used parts and materials that have cash value.
  • Ensure the security of the buildings, tools and equipment, and other assets, at all times.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Familiar with Company policies, guidelines, and OSHA in order to rectify any safety hazards or violations.
  • Process and route all paperwork including time sheets, packing slips, invoices, memorandums, DOT information, expense sheets, and faxes, etc. accurately and timely.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS


  • Competitive pay rate is dependent on experience, with an hourly range of $25.00 - $33.00. Overtime hours are typical for this role and are paid a one and a half times the regular hourly rate.
