Principal Product Technology Lead

JOB SUMMARY

This role serves as the accountable technical leader for assigned product lines, holding primary ownership for technical excellence and high-quality product performance across the complete lifecycle of complex products - from early concept development through sustaining engineering to end-of-life. Through deep technical expertise and influential leadership, this role drives complex product strategy and roadmaps, makes critical product decisions with broad impact, and orchestrates major development initiatives. The position builds consensus across R&D and cross-functional partners while ensuring reliable product technical integrity and delivering substantial business value.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES



  • Drive and own technical strategy and product roadmaps for assigned product lines, exercising independent judgment in complex decisions that significantly impact business outcomes


  • Represent the organization as the primary technical contact for product lines, engaging with external partners and customers on significant technical matters requiring cross-organizational coordination
  • Lead major technical program execution including scope, schedule, and budget accountability, guiding teams through complex engineering challenges
  • Define innovative product solutions through technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration, anticipating problems and developing advanced alternatives


  • Champion system architecture development and technical standards through functional team collaboration, understanding impacts across multiple disciplines


  • Guide quality and regulatory strategy development, directing comprehensive technical risk management approaches
  • Distill and communicate voice of customer and market needs to systems engineering, software and other functional partners to drive optimal product requirements
  • Provide expert technical opinion and prioritization direction in support of product line sustaining efforts. Balance the needs and priorities for field, factory and future for the product line.
  • Guide strategic product decisions from concept through end-of-life, driving continuous innovation
  • Lead complex design implementation and transfer with manufacturing partners, driving innovative solutions to technical challenges
  • Drive strategic supplier partnerships through technical leadership, guiding technology advancement initiatives
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration through technical influence and strategic decision making, delivering significant business impact
  • Provide technical mentorship across the organization, fostering excellence through advanced knowledge sharing



MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Advanced engineering degree strongly preferred.



Experience



  • Minimum 15 years progressive technical experience
  • Minimum 5 years technical project/program leadership experience
  • Minimum 5 years of direct product development experience in the medical device industry


  • Demonstrated success leading complex product development from concept through commercialization
  • Strong expertise in systems engineering and collaboration with software development teams
  • Track record of leading through influence in cross-functional environments
  • Proven success driving complex technical programs with significant business impact


Skills



  • Demonstrated ability to influence global, cross-functional development teams on complex technical matters, with proven success in stakeholder alignment
  • Strong business acumen with proven success shaping product strategy through advanced technical expertise
  • Excellence in communication with demonstrated ability to engage and influence technical and business audiences on complex matters

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

General Labor Environment requirements include: use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, hand/finger dexterity, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, or transporting up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.

Target Pay Range:$152,700.00to$190,900.00 -Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data

Target Bonus on Base:20.0%
