TEMP - GIS Intern (Asset Data Collection)

Summary

Responsible for collecting GPS data and tagging assets in Parks and City property for the Parks & Recreation Department.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $27.00 (Depending on experience and qualifications)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist the Asset Management Coordinator with the collection of field data and the proper tagging of assets.

  • Utilizes ESRI programs such as ArcPro/ArcMap, Field Maps, and ArcGIS Online.

  • Uses electronic devices such as an iPad, GPS Devices, and a computer.

  • Performs related work as required.

  • Support Park Operations through field inspections of landscape maintenance contracts to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree plan in Geographic Information Systems, Parks and Recreation Management, or related field.

  • Second semester course work

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Pursuing a degree plan in Geographic Information Systems, Parks and Recreation Management, or related field.

  • Second semester course work.

  • 6 months experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge and use of GPS collection applications such as Field Maps.

  • Ability to work alone in an outdoor setting after minimal training.

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions to complete objectives.

  • Ability to set up and operate GPS communication devices and problem solve.

  • Proficient in ESRI applications. (ArcPro, Field Maps, ArcGIS Online)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Texas Class C Driver License.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The incumbent will typically work alone in the field in an outdoor setting. Requires hearing and speaking to effectively communicate by telephone and in person and visual acuity to read documents and for use of personal computer; on occasion may be requested to lift up to 25 pounds.
