Transportation Planning Specialist Trainee

As a trainee, you will engage in a comprehensive 12-month training program that involves serving as a liaison between the department and various planning organizations, both rural and metropolitan, to develop and manage Transportation Improvement Programs (TIP) throughout the state. This role encompasses collaboration with entities such as the Northwest Rural Planning Organization (RPO), Erie Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Shenango Valley MPO, and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) Metropolitan Planning Area. Additionally, you will be tasked with preparing current status reports and briefings and coordinating the preparation and amendment/modification of TIP and Twelve-Year Program (TYP) projects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography;or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
