The Department of Teaching and Learning within the College of Education at the University of Iowa is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for the following 3-semester hour course to be taught in the Fall 2025 semester: EDTL:2122/EDTL:5222 - Creativity, Imagination, Play, & Human Development Through Art This course offers students the opportunity to appreciate the arts and analyze them within their historical and theoretical contexts. Students develop an understanding of the role of the arts within child development, gain knowledge about the psychological benefits of art viewing and creation across the lifespan, and explore the foundational role that creativity, play, and imaginative engagement have in academic performance and mental wellness. Job Functions Instruction and student support for the 3-semester hour course will include the following responsibilities: Leading weekly online lectures; Booking guest speakers and/or class visits; Providing meeting time for students enrolled in the course; Managing the online course system (ICON) for the course; Supervision of studio/lab instructors. Education Requirement Master's degree in an education-related field and/or psychology or child development. Special consideration will be given to candidates with art-focused scholarly practice. Qualifications Adjunct Instructor must have completed an accredited Teacher Education Program in the United States and held a teaching license in the United States. |
