Nursing Lab Assistant (Part-Time)
Rasmussen University

The Nursing Laboratory Assistant assists in maintaining laboratory equipment, materials, and supplies. This is a part-time role with a 20-25 hour/week schedule.

Responsibilities:

Nursing Laboratory Equipment, Materials, and Supply Management 100%



  • Assist in the preparation, set up, break down, and clean up for all the nursing laboratory activities
  • Assist in ensuring laboratory equipment, materials, and supplies in good working condition and sufficient
  • Assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe laboratory and storeroom environments (floors, counter tops, sinks, shelving, equipment, washes and stores linens, and other materials)
  • Assist in the maintenance of records and files related to equipment and supplies inventory, warranties, and laboratory schedules
  • Assist with the oversight of open laboratory sessions with students ensuring equipment is properly signed out and returned
  • Stores, receives, and stocks equipment and supplies
  • May assist faculty in proctoring of examinations during times of high testing volume
  • Attends and may assist with School of Nursing on-campus activities as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Reporting Relationships:

The Nursing Laboratory Assistant reports directly to the Nurse Administrator, who may be an Associate Dean of Nursing, Dean of Nursing or Area Dean of Nursing. The Nursing Laboratory Assistant works collaboratively and engages with faculty responsible for laboratory course delivery. This role has no direct reports.

Requirements:



  • A High School Diploma is required, Associate's degree preferred
  • Experience working in a clinical environment in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge and ability to use medical equipment (e.g. intravenous (IV) pumps, monitors, oxygen delivery systems, etc.)
  • Experience with simulation technology is a plus
  • Organizational and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of student and faculty requirements for nursing laboratory procedures
  • Ability to set-up and use video equipment
  • Ability to maintain safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to lift, move, up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as student needs dictate
