Chemonics seeks a Livelihoods Product Support Senior Specialistto join the FEWS NET 8 project.Since its establishment in 1985, the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) project aims to sustainably prevent food insecurity and famine across the globe by delivering to the U.S. Government and partners early warning on the location, causes, and magnitude of current and future food insecurity; improving the quality and timeliness of information and analysis useful for achieving sustainable food security; and strengthening innovative local, national, regional, and international capabilities to understand and appropriately address current, recurrent, and likely future food insecurity. Chemonics has been implementing FEWS NET since 2000, beginning its eighth phase (FEWS NET 8) in 2024.

FEWS NET 8 Knowledge Base (FEWS NET 8 KB) is a $65 million project which will create and update FEWS NET's knowledge base about livelihood and market systems on which FEWS NET's acute food insecurity early warning analyses are predicated, thereby ensuring the allocation of effective emergency food assistance.

The full-time DC-based (hybrid) Livelihoods Product Support Senior Specialist (PSS) for FEWS NET 8 KB will support the project's Deputy Chief of Party for Livelihoods (DCOP-Livelihoods) in producing and disseminating high-quality livelihood zone baseline reports, reference materials and analysis tools for the project, partners and FEWS NET's Decision Support project. The Product Support Senior Specialist will lead project documentation, modify existing, and when appropriate, develop training and guidance materials, and support project communications and dissemination of reports to target audiences. In consultation with the Deputy Chief of Party for Livelihoods and the Livelihoods Quality Assurance Advisor (LQAA), the PSS will spearhead streamlined and efficient product development processes, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and effectively coordinate with subcontractors and partners contributing to the project.

Responsibilities:

  • In consultation with the DCOP-Livelihoods, lead the product development cycle of custom livelihood zone-specific baseline products and inputs in line with program strategy and compliance requirements;
  • Oversee project communications and the dissemination of reports to relevant audiences;
  • Contribute to the preparation of consistent, high-quality livelihood zone baseline reports, reference materials, and analytical products;
  • Publish reports and other deliverables in accordance with project branding and marking guidelines.
  • Review reports, livelihood zone baseline products and reference materials, project deliverables, and other communications products to ensure consistency, adherence to branding and marking requirements, and Section 508 compliance;
  • Collaborate with DCOP- Livelihoods and the LQAA to support the preparation of training and guidance materials;
  • Assist in communications and data submission activities and lead the dissemination of final reports and analysis products;
  • Liaise across all FEWS NET mechanisms to inform livelihood zone baseline products, provide feedback on overlapping areas, establish common naming conventions, and support data submission to the FEWS NET Learning and Data Hub (Hub), etc;
  • Coordinate with the KB Data Team to ensure submission of all HEA baseline data sets, annual and quarterly reports, workplans, and KB products;
  • Provide updates on product development progress, challenges, and solutions;
  • Lead coordination with subcontractors and implementing partners to ensure efficient and high-quality product development;
  • Collaborate and support Livelihood editors;
  • Lead the documentation of processes and approaches;
  • Supervise the product development process;
  • Support in-country validation processes with partners;
  • Development of informational blogs to communicate project;
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the COP or DCOP-Livelihoods.

In addition to items listed, incumbents are expected to follow organization policies, adhere to organization processes and programs and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; Master's degree preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience;
  • Experience in project/product management skills, including managing or coordinating a team or initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor with demonstrated ability and comfort working with a range of diverse technical and administrative professionals across multiple geographies.
  • Experience living and working in a developing country context is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Windows systems and Office and Google suite, including Excel, and an interest in learning additional computer skills.
  • Experience with Section 508 remediation preferred.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and well-organized in delivering on professional responsibilities and organizational commitments on time and of high quality.
  • Capacity to proactively and assertively address issues and changing circumstances, both independently and with the support of other team members.
  • Experience working with graphic design and data processing software (Publisher, Indesign, ArcGis, Adobe suite) preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required; Proficiency in French, Portuguese, Spanish, or Arabic language preferred.

The Salary Range for this position is expected to be: $80,100 - $100,100.

An employee's pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.

Overtime exemption status may change due to state regulatory requirements.
