Our products are used in space, aviation, marine, hydropower and other industrial applications. As an industry leader we design, test and manufacture the highest performing, self-lubricating, roller element, metal to metal and miniature bearings in the industry.

Position Summary:

Associate Buyer provides direction on the procurement and planning activities in support of company objectives, policies, and requirements. Analyst, review, and maintain the planning and procurement of indirect materials and capital equipment. Ensure that proper inventory levels are maintained, and lead times are in alignment with the needs of the business. Communicate with internal and external customers. Promote teamwork within the company.

Responsibilities:



  • Manage and procure indirect materials and create CAPEX and Maintenance purchase orders for production. This includes but is not limited to analyzing, obtaining and reviewing quotes, performing price negotiations and awarding purchase orders.
  • Ensure purchase order accuracy and compliance to customer and Kamatics specifications, requirements, and procedures.
  • Analyze quotes to align with production/operation lead-time and pricing guidelines.
  • Develop effective and professional relationships with suppliers.


    • Maintain and communicate supplier promise dates to suppliers and stakeholders.
    • Communicate concerns regarding supplier performance with supervisor. Report issues that impact manufacturing flow to stakeholders such as the Value Stream Manager.


  • Partner with Accounts Payable in resolving invoice issues in a timely manner. Acts as a liaison between the accounts payable personnel and the supplier.
  • Analyze quoting and purchasing data to generate spreadsheets, reports, and presentations as required. Maintain files, procurement documents, and supplier agreements.


  • Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external customers. Supports business objectives. Contributes and promotes a positive team environment.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures. Contribute to 5S programs in work area.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to Value Stream Manager.
  • Comply with Kaman's Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Accomplish related results as required.



Requirement/Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelors degree in Business Management or related degree.


  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of working experience; manufacturing experience preferred
  • Skills:

    • Strong critical/analytical thinking and decision making skills with the ability to solve problems effectively
    • Strong communication (speaking, listening, questioning) with ability to influence and negotiate, while maintaining a strong customer service mindset.
    • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products (outlook, word, excel) and ability to understand and work with an ERP system.
    • Strong organizational, and attention to details skills with the ability to manage your time effective for strong results.
    • Effective collaborative skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization.





Physical Requirements:



  • Frequent mental and visual attention for computer and administrative function tasks.
  • Frequent sitting at a computer workstation and grasping a mouse
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Occasional bending and twisting
