JOB TITLE: Assessment Specialist, Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL) JOB PURPOSE: The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Assessment Specialist works with the Associate Director of Assessment to help colleges, academic, and co-curricular departments, and faculty to determine assessment needs, conduct assessment training and research, and measure how students, (resident and online) are meeting established student learning outcomes (SLOs). The Specialist will be familiar with how to use various assessment resources to gauge the effectiveness of teaching and learning. The incumbent will provide SoTL and SLOs training, workshops, and academies for faculty and new members of the University's Assessment Committee. The Specialist will be familiar with and assist faculty in writing SoTL assessment research proposals and conducting research. The Specialist will track and publish on the University's assessment website all current assessment activities, including SoTL projects, highlighting research undertaken to improve teaching and learning. The Assessment Specialist will assist in gathering evidence of student learning, including Institutional Performance Indicators, SoTL research results, and direct and indirect assessment results. The Specialist will publish these results on the UW assessment website to ensure transparency of the institution's use of student learning assessment to improve its educational endeavors. COMPETENCIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master's degree and at least one year experience in higher education assessment or Scholarship of Teaching & Learning projects and administration is required. EXPERIENCE: At least one year experience in higher education assessment or SoTL projects and administration is required. Experience with educational development preferred. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
