Responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned seal projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work includes primarily mechanical engineering. Guide teams of engineers and designers on seal projects, calculations, FEA, mechanical design, BOM definition, system definition, test procedures. Ensure engineering adherence to schedule and budget. Apply existing technologies, approaches, methodologies in new combinations to design new seal products, systems, or processes. Viewed internally and externally as a specialist in API 6A sealing systems. Create and maintain projects plans, technical roadmaps, technical risks, and product recommendations. Present this information to senior business leaders within SPC and occasionally to senior leaders in partner technical teams. Champion and protect Baker Hughes intellectual property, including submitting and reviewing patent applications. Communicate solutions across engineering and with cross-functional partner organizations. Mentor and train other engineers on sealing systems within SPC. Prepare and conduct seal system design reviews for NPD projects. Chair design reviews for other engineering teams. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college. Minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical design of oil and gas production equipment. Minimum of 5 years of experience in design of wellhead and/or tree equipment. Preferably surface, but subsea will also be considered. Widely recognized industry expert in non-metallic sealing systems. Minimum of 10 years of experience in metal and/or elastomer sealing systems for oilfield applications. Experience innovating new products from concept through qualification, evidenced by involvement in multiple new product developments and/or patents. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, and execute projects. Desired Characteristics Experience defining and conducting multiple new product qualification tests.
