Position Overview

The Database Administrator is responsible for the design, logical/physical data modeling, stored procedure/trigger development, database configuration/tuning, and system documentation of all internally developed databases. In this role you will develop procedures for automating data feeds and data transformation process between external and internal data systems and among internal data sources and for automating data warehouse processes. This position requires strong data architecture, logical, and physical modeling, and effective communication skills.

The Database Administrator performs duties within a multi-function, cross-division, or mission critical environment. This person uses SQL Server, Epic Cogito applications, and other development tools. They work closely with developers, programmers, and system administrators. The Database Administrator assists in developing a long-term plan for Information Systems. This position will be part of a 24x7 rotational on-call roster to ensure ongoing support is available for the business.

Essential Duties

  • Oversees the development and maintenance of database objects (such as stored procedures and triggers) to ensure quality and best practices.
  • Create and maintain database documentation, including ER diagrams, stored procedure listings and descriptions, and usage and performance statistics
  • Develop and maintain stored procedures and views to deliver data for reporting needs
  • Performing day to day management of databases and database platforms
  • Monitor and maintain the security of databases and database software in cooperation with the Systems Administrator
  • Provide db/log backup/recovery and replication
  • Carry out Database and OS tuning
  • Responsible for job scheduling for automating data transfer between both internal and external data systems
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to developers
  • Participate in long-term systems architecture planning
  • Provide backup support to other team members
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
  • 4+ years' experience in database development and administration
  • 2+ years demonstrated proficiency as Microsoft SQL Server DBA
  • Epic Cogito Administration certification a plus
  • MCSA Certification version 2012 or newer a plus
  • Working knowledge of Power BI, Azure and MS Fabric highly desired
  • Knowledge of and experience in the Health Care industry or Healthcare IT preferred
  • Advanced MS SQL programming skills preferred
  • Data warehousing experience preferred
  • Extensive experience in database design and implementation, query tuning and optimization
  • Experience with replication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous, methodical and data-driven
  • Intense attention to detail and ability to apply critical thinking skills in order to identify and carry out solutions
  • Ability to work at least 1 weekend a month and intermittent nights to support system health monitoring

The typical offer range for this role is minimum to midpoint, with the midpoint representing the average pay in a national market scope for this position.
