Job Summary

The Department of Information Technology is currently seeking a Unified Communications Engineer in the Infrastructure Division. This position will serve as a lead engineer in support of the County unified communication systems providing the highest level of customer service.
* Provides technical system support related to planning, design, maintenance, troubleshooting, issue resolution, additions and upgrades to unified communications systems, including Microsoft Teams Calling, Genesys Contact Center, SIP, SBCs, and analog lines. * Lead the implementation of projects related to the County Unified Communications Systems * Manage and work with vendors * Manage change controls for internal work as well as vendor maintenance * Train other team members on new technologies, methods and procedures * Respond to customer requests in the time frame and manner defined by the supervisor * Perceive, identify, and recommend solutions to customer related issues * Develops and maintains system documentation, procedures, and standards * Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention * Coordinate acquisition of equipment and track inventory and projects in support of unified communication systems * Provide oversight for the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of all County unified communication systems, accessories and other equipment * Lead preventative maintenance activities on all associated equipment * Supports tactical and strategic planning efforts for all customer unified communications related needs * Provide regular reports on unified communications systems performance and maintain documentation related to voice configuration, design, repairs, requests, actions taken and root cause analysis * Maintains system security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications
-
Associate degree with coursework in technology or related field; two years of related technical work experience preferably in a government setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
We are seeking someone who has:
* Ability to strategically plan the engineering requirements for unified communication systems and associated equipment * Ability to make technical recommendations associated with unified communication systems * Ability to make creative and strategic approaches to problem solving and an ability to tackle complex issues * Demonstrated excellent customer service skills * Familiarity with VoIP, SIP, MS Teams Calling and Contact Center technologies
