Position Purpose

Stark State College is seeking a full-time groundskeeper to join our grounds maintenance team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining safe, clean, and attractive outdoor spaces for our campus community. The successful candidate will perform general landscaping, grounds maintenance, and seasonal upkeep across college property.

Typical Hours/Days of Work: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Location:
Main Campus, North Canton Ohio
Pay: $15.08 - $19.61/hour, commensurate with experience

Typical Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain lawns, flower beds, shrubs, and trees through mowing, trimming, pruning, watering, and planting
  • Operate and maintain a variety of grounds keeping equipment and tools, including mowers, chainsaws, and tractors
  • Perform snow and ice removal using snowplows, snow blowers, and hand tools; spread salt and sand as needed

  • Conduct minor repairs to sidewalks, parking lots, and equipment

  • Keep campus grounds clean by removing debris, emptying trash, and sweeping walkways

  • Assist with sign installation and traffic control equipment

  • Support other departments as needed, including maintenance, custodial, and shipping/receiving

  • Participate in after-hours or emergency response when necessary

To be Considered You'll Need:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-4 years of experience in lawn care or landscaping
  • Valid Ohio driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain grounds keeping equipment
  • Basic knowledge of lawn and plant care, including use of fertilizers and equipment
