Position Description

The Patient Access Coordinator - Cerner Community Care will support Veterans and underserved populations by enhancing access to care through effective Cerner system configuration, issue resolution, and workflow optimization. This full-time role ensures that front-end processes within Cerner Community Care are aligned with organizational goals for usability, compliance, and access efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of patient access workflows, experience in resolving system issues, and a commitment to improving the patient experience through technology-driven solutions. Applicants must have exceptionally strong communication skills and thrive in an environment of leading discussions and meetings with executive-level stakeholders.

Type of Employment: Full-Time

Work Location/Travel: Expected 50% travel required; applicants must be free from travel restrictions to accommodate evolving needs of the client.

Salary Range: $72,000 - $83,000 base salary, depending on experience and location.

Responsibilities:

* Optimize patient scheduling, registration, referrals, and insurance verification processes using Cerner Community Care tools.

* Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to streamline patient access workflows.

* Provide at-the-elbow support and learning.

* Troubleshoot front-end Cerner issues affecting patient intake and access processes.

* Assess and triage open change requests and issues, and apply industry knowledge and expertise of Cerner functionality to resolve the tickets.

* Maintain accurate documentation for system changes, configurations, and workflow updates.

* Facilitate stakeholder training and provide support for end users at go-live and post-deployment stages.

* Track system performance indicators and provide input on optimization and continuous improvement opportunities.

* Demonstrate excellent communication skills and present in the most polished and professional manner.

* Work collaboratively across departments to ensure equitable and efficient patient care access through technology.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

* Hands-on expertise with Cerner Community Care modules, including scheduling and registration.

* Working knowledge of access to care workflows and patient intake operations.

* Ability to identify, communicate, and implement workflow improvements based on system capabilities.

* Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to independently resolve technical issues.

* Polished interpersonal skills and proven success in customer-facing, patient-facing, or stakeholder-facing roles.

Education/Certification Required:

* Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Informatics, Business, or related field preferred.

* Certification in patient access or health IT applications is a plus.

Experience Required:

* Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Cerner Community Care or related front-end EHR modules.

* Required experience supporting VA and/or DoD Cerner deployments.

* Background in patient registration, scheduling, or access management.

Technical Skills Required:

* Experience with Cerner Community Care, scheduling templates, and registration protocols.

* Familiarity with HL7 interfaces related to patient access and care coordination.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other collaboration tools.
