Job Summary

The Team Lead is responsible for managing the staff and operation of a clinic at Denver Health. Internal Medicine physicians are primary care doctors who primarily see patients in an office-based setting, in addition to rounding on patients in the hospital. Internists are typically generalists who cover a broad scope of medicine to include total body wellness, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions and illnesses. Internists typically treat adults, some adolescents, and elderly patients.

Essential Functions:



  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients with acute and chronic illnesses, including major and complicated, and perform procedures learned in training. (20%)
  • Provide preventative and therapeutic care for patients. This includes admit patients, preventative care, acute care, care of injured persons, management of chronic illnesses, and performance of procedures learned in training. (20%)
  • Supervise house staff in providing care for patients in ambulatory and inpatient settings. (15%)
  • Performs privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health and Hospital Authority General Internal Medicine Clinical Privileges documentation. (15%)
  • Responsible for management of staff and the operations of a clinic at Denver Health. (15%)
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. (15%)


Education:



  • Doctorate Degree Required


Work Experience:



  • 1-3 years 3 years of outpatient clinic experience with demonstrated leadership qualities and evidence of leading initiatives at the clinic or division level, or oversight of advanced practice providers. Required and


Licenses:



  • ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
  • NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Program - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
  • PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Has adequate knowledge and skill of all privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health and Hospital Authority General Internal Medicine Clinical Privileges documentation.
  • Knowledge and interest in multi-disciplinary ambulatory care, ability to work in teams and motivate physicians and other providers to improve quality, patient experience and operational efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide variety of staff as well as administration.
  • Possess critical thinking, analytical and teaching/coaching skills.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff while providing quality medical care
  • Able to analyze, interpret and act upon relevant clinical and financial data that pertain to the practice.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to accept and implement change.
  • Demonstrated history of positive collegial relations with colleagues, support staff, providers, administrators and patients.
  • Computer skills required.
