Responsibilities

Peraton Space Technology Services (STS) is the prime contractor on the Environmental Test and Integration Services III (ETIS III) contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). We support the GSFC Engineering and Technology Directorate's Mechanical Systems Division in Greenbelt, Maryland. We provide facility operations and maintenance as well as integration and testing to support spaceflight hardware development.

The GSFC Environmental Test and Integration Facilities ensure spacecraft and flight experiments will withstand the rigors of launch and will operate properly in the space environment. In addition to operations, these technical facilities have on-going goals of advancing the state-of-the-art in the development of improved space flight systems. The GSFC Environmental Test and Integration Facilities are one of the most complete and comprehensive space hardware test complexes within the United States Government.

The positions will provide supervisory guidance to personnel in the ETIS III Advanced Manufacturing group to support the Code 547 Advanced Manufacturing Branch. Oversee engineers and technicians performing work in machine shop operations, advanced composites laboratory development, electro-plating facility, sheet metal fabrication and assembly area and associated maintenance, logistics and information technology support functions.

Responsibilities of the position:

    Plans, organize, and coordinate the activities of personnel engaged in a specific technical function and work requests.
  • Assist in developing Strategic and Tactical plan and updating annually. Develop training plans and assure personnel are current on required certification to engage in specific technical functions.
  • Develop staff, mentor, and provide career coaching. Overall responsibility for staffing to meet requirements.
  • Establish and maintain schedules for the group to be consistent with budgetary and time constraints with emphasis on safety of operations.
  • Monitor and review work to assure timeliness and accuracy of responsible department/function. Meet with other area supervisors for load leveling within the confines of the Union CBA.
  • Elevate in a timely manner to manager, personnel funding issues. Responsible for assuring that funding is available in WorkDay prior to submittal for procurements.
  • Responsible for work within the confines of task order provided by senior management, supporting the monitoring labor, materials and ODC such as travel and training using web-based tools.
  • Approval of time records and requests for time off, PPE, training, Implement and maintain quality control in accordance with GSFC ISO 9001, maintain safety, quality, and environmental standards per policy.
  • Assist employees with problem resolution, counsel employees, conduct performance evaluation interviews, seek interpretation of company policies.
  • Inform employees and enforce safety and environmental regulations; assure compliance with and actively support EEO/AA programs.
  • Develop innovative approaches to non-routine, nonrecurring work requests, based on acquired expertise and knowledge or organization philosophy and personnel capabilities.
  • Perform any other related duties as required to meet objectives of the group, provide training, and maintain appropriate records.
  • Position will have union employees reporting to them directly


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School and six solid years of experience.
  • Six years of experience in technical management, machine shop operations, or related technical field or related field
  • Ability to provide verbal and written instructions.
  • Experience with managing engineers and technicians
  • Must be able to organize time and assignments to properly prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness.

Must be US citizen and able to obtain a NASA PIV badge and pass the background check and drug screening.

  • Work with other personnel in a group that is Team Oriented.
  • Experience managing represented workforce

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
