Pay Rate: $50,000- $55,000- considering experience Purpose Follow established procedures and guidelines to prepare flavour samples and participate in flavour evaluations, to support the effective application process, according to business goals and EH&S policies. Core Responsibilities Flavour Preparation & Evaluation
- Prepare flavour samples as requested for customer briefs, application needs, technology performance assessment, QC standards, physical testing, etc.
- Act as the main point of contact to provide timely flavour samples for other labs and functions within Givaudan
- Maintain all required formula records, flavour and ingredient evaluation feedback, and brief documentation in company database software (Lab Notebook, Google Drive, Athena, Atlas, Lot Number records, FPR, Formula changes, etc.)
- Maintain an organized and updated stock of raw materials in the lab
- Maintain an organized collection of flavours in the lab for immediate response to briefs and application requests
- Assist in applying flavours to food products when assigned
- Participate in the evaluation of raw materials (including experimental and meat-containing ingredients ), new technology, and flavours in food products, and provide flavour performance feedback
- Coordinate samples for customer project work and shipment
- Assist in sample preparation for creation tools (Opus, mini-VAS, etc.)
Environmental Health & Safety
- Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment per EH&S guidelines and good laboratory practices
Academic Background
- Secondary/High School diploma or
- Polytechnic or Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts, Food Science, Chemistry, Biology
Professional Experience
- Secondary/High School: minimum 1-5 years of experience in a lab, production, or related area
- Polytechnic or Bachelor's Degree: minimum 0-2 years of experience in a food applications lab, productio,n or related area
Technical Skills
- Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal form.
- Proficiency in using common PC applications
- Basic understanding of research documentation protocol.
- Basic knowledge of lab equipment and handling chemicals used to perform lab functions
- Basic knowledge of Givaudan safety, hygiene, and environmental guidelines/requirements
- Ability to follow flavour formulations and to compound flavours with speed and accuracy
- Basic ability to prepare flavour delivery systems and assist with product evaluations and sensory tests
- Ability to organize a flavour lab efficiently and keep raw materials and flavour collections up to date
