Responsibilities
The Manager, Employee Relations Investigations works closely with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Belonging, Health & Equity, the Director of Employee Relations and the Directors of Human Resources. The Manager, Employee Relations Investigations provides guidance to Employee Relations Investigators, Human Resources Managers and leadership on workplace investigations and other employee relations issues, building a culture of equity, inclusion and belonging; ensuring Just Culture philosophy is utilized throughout the organization. This role demonstrates exceptional listening skills, adeptness in conducting interviews and the ability to remain objective to ensure an impartial fact-finding investigation in compliance with local, state, and federal legal standards. The Manager, Employee Relations Investigations solves complex problems, takes a new perspective on existing solutions while managing highly confidential and sensitive information with the highest integrity; monitors and trends workplace investigations and provides instruction and training to the Human Resources Managers and leaders. The Manager, Employee Relations Investigations participates in the development, planning and implementation of employee relations processes, building strategies to enhance employee experience and labor relations. Key Accountabilities:
- Conducts thorough and unbiased investigations into workplace concerns, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and other violations of internal Norton Healthcare policies and processes. Assists Employee Relations Investigators and Human Resources Managers in conducting timely fact-finding investigations. Promotes ethical and compliant behavior that is aligned with Norton Healthcare policy and government regulations, with fair and equal treatment of employees. Prepares, tracks, and maintains appropriate investigation documentation including employee statements, interview notes and preserving evidence. Applies Just Culture philosophy in recommending actions and outcomes for workplace investigations.
- Fosters an inclusive work environment/culture and relationships, balancing employee advocacy with Norton Healthcare Mission, Vision, and Values. Collaborates with cross functional partners including Human Resources Operations, Legal and Belonging & Health Equity to gather information, coordinate efforts and ensure consistent and effective workplace investigations. Participates in the development, planning and implementation of employee relations processes, building strategies to enhance employee experience and labor relations. Solves complex problems, taking a new perspective on existing solutions. Monitors leaders' coaching competencies and provides guidance to create a positive coaching environment to drive change across Norton Healthcare.
- Analyzes complex data to identify trends and propose solutions to improve employee relations and the workplace investigative process system wide. Identifies and implements strategies to changes in the investigative process to improve efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining the highest quality standards. Prepares data analysis and actions for executive leadership reviews.
- Leads implementation and compliance of organizational and regulatory requirements and agencies relating to Human Resources. Supports internal legal partners with data needs from investigations. Stays up to date on employment laws and government regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, NLRA, Title VII and equivalent state laws); and ensures Employee Relations Investigators and Human Resources Managers are properly trained on changes. Conducts internal audits of complex employee relations issues and provide feedback directly to the Employee Relations Investigators.
Qualifications
Required:
- Three years Human Resources investigative experience
- Bachelor Degree
Desired:
- Prior experience in a healthcare environment
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) OR Society for Human Resource Management-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) OR Human Resource Information Professional (IHRIM-HRIP)
