The Project Safety Leader is responsible for the implementation, administration, and oversight of the company's safety program at a designated project site. This role plays an active leadership role in identifying, eliminating, and controlling hazardous conditions to prevent injuries and property damage. The Project Safety Leader collaborates with project teams to define safety standards, develop best management practices, and apply analytical techniques to evaluate jobsite conditions. They also assist in the pre-planning and implementation of site-specific safety plans. This position will augment the current Safety team on specific job sites as needed throughout the year. Hours vary based on project schedule. Experience/Education Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a safety-related field.
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards is required; CHST certification is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Bachelor's degree in industrial safety or a related field is preferred.
- Industrial/commercial construction experience is a plus.
- Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to travel / work onsite at regional or national customer locations; extended hours may be required.
- Strong communication skills with work crews, field leadership, project management, general contractors, and clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide full-time, onsite safety management for assigned projects.
- Conduct safety audits; communicate findings and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Develop site-specific safety plans in collaboration with project leadership.
- Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure legal compliance and address policy issues.
- Promote and participate in the company's Safety Observation Program, share and review findings with team members.
- Oversee the substance use program and site-specific procedures.
- Attend customer/client safety meetings as required.
- Investigate all incidents, including injuries, near misses, and property damage; complete thorough reports.
- Provide onsite claims management for work comp and other loss events in coordination with leadership.
- Administer first aid for minor injuries.
- Develop and deliver training content for workers, project management, and field leaders, including new hire orientations and weekly meetings.
- Facilitate task-specific training (e.g., aerial lift, forklift, confined space, signal person, respiratory protection).
- Maintain accurate and organized safety documentation, reports, and training records.
- Support company-wide safety initiatives and strategic planning efforts.
- Execute responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Professionally represent the company internally and externally in alignment with its values and mission.
