Position Summary

The Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards provides leadership for the University's student conduct program (2000+ cases annually); including the New York campus, residential community and global locations (portal campuses and study away sites). Oversee the operation of the University Senate Community Standards committee; serve as a member of the University Compliance Officers working group; oversee all student conduct data; and create/review enhancements/updates for the student code of behavior at the institution. The position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Students.



Qualifications

Required Education:
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field

Preferred Education:
Doctoral Degree in Education, Counseling, or Higher Education or Juris Doctorate (J.D.)

Required Experience:
7+ years of experience in managing student conduct at an institution of higher education

Preferred Experience:
10+ years of experience in managing student conduct at an institution of higher education.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong understanding of current and pending federal, state and local legislative matters as they affect Student Affairs. Awareness of the relationship of federal and local regulatory laws as they pertain to the management of student conduct and grievance matters. Exceptional writing, communication skills, mediation counseling, and investigatory skills are essential.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards. Understanding of restorative practices and dispute resolution.



Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $116,000.00 to USD $156,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
