POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Construction Sciences & Business department at Dunwoody College seeks candidates in all areas ofConstruction Management. The opening is targeted at the level of Instructor, but experienced candidates with outstanding credentials may be considered for Senior Instructor, Associate or Full Professor. The Instructor is responsible for excellence in teaching contributing to the undergraduate educational mission of the College. Dunwoody encourages innovation in and diversity of teaching methods and multidisciplinary collaborations with academic departments and units across the College. This is a unique opportunity to create the foundation of an emerging experiential educational experience construction management professionals. The College is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

This faculty position is responsible for initiating the teaching and learning process for students. As a student centered institution, Dunwoody expects faculty to teach and develop and maintain relationships with industry. The faculty member teaches and plans with innovation and uses a diversity of teaching methods and multidisciplinary collaborations with academic departments and units across the College.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:



  • Facilitates learning activities so that students learn the principles, theory, skills, and work ethic necessary to become proficient for entry level positions.
  • Creates a positive learning environment.
  • Monitors, assesses and advises learner on technical and academic progress and performance.
  • Uses current academic and industry practices in assigned courses of instruction.
  • Develops and upgrades lesson material, training aids and maintains equipment within assigned course of instruction.
  • Assists in the recruitment and placement of learners.
  • Leads the process of maintaining equipment and recommends new equipment purchases within assigned program.
  • As a part of a team, designs and develops new curriculum within assigned program.
  • Provides support, coaching, and guidance to faculty members.
  • Participates in industry and/or professional organizations in order to maintain and enhance program health and academic integrity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Faculty teaching in the associate and certificate construction management programs will meet one the following criteria:




  • A bachelor's degree in a construction management related field; OR





  • An associate's degree in a construction management related field and professional certification in the content area which they are teaching and related industry experience





Faculty teaching in the Construction Management baccalaureate program will meet one of the following qualifications:




  • Have a master's degree in a related field; OR





  • Have a bachelor's degree in construction management or related field and certification in their area of expertise and related industry experience OR





  • Have a bachelor's or master's degree in related field to the content they are teaching AND industry experience (example, Construction Law, Construction Accounting).
