Position Overview:
ABC Companies is seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Director to lead our HR function and drive company-wide initiatives that support a positive and compliant workplace. This key leadership role reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for all aspects of HR strategy and operations, including compliance, talent acquisition, benefits, risk management, and vendor oversight.
This role is based in Winter Garden, FL, with occasional travel (up to 10%) to other company locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight to the HR department staff of four, one of which is located in a California location.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR vendor relationships, ensuring performance accountability, adherence to contracts, and the strategic reduction/simplification of vendors where appropriate.
- Manage RFP processes for benefits and HRIS solutions, ensuring value, efficiency, and compliance.
- Develop and implement efficient, scalable onboarding and orientation processes for new employees to ensure a consistent and engaging experience.
- Work collaboratively with ABC's Legal department on sensitive employment issues, compliance matters, investigations, and legal consultations.
- Lead compliance efforts across all locations, with particular emphasis on California employment law.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement, and performance development across the organization, collaborating closely with departments such as IT, Finance/Payroll, Marketing, and Service to ensure HR strategies are aligned and employee communications are consistent and effective.
- Provide guidance on organizational design, policy development, and workforce planning aligned with business goals.
- Support risk management strategies, employee safety programs, and workplace best practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven HR leadership experience, preferably in a multi-state environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (HR certifications such as SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR strongly preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, particularly California.
- Demonstrated success in managing vendors and holding them accountable to SLAs and contractual obligations.
- Hands-on experience with benefit and HRIS RFPs and vendor transitions.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience creating or improving onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Ability to navigate complex employee relations matters, working closely with legal counsel when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in HR, Business, or a related field.
- Experience reducing vendor footprint and streamlining HR operations.
- Exposure to managing or supporting HR operations across multiple states or locations.
- Prior involvement with labor law consultations or compliance strategy with in-house counsel or external legal advisors.
