Join us in shaping the future or energy infrastructure and making a significant impact on communities across North America as our Engineer III Capacity Planning!

This pivotal role involves calculating daily operational capacities across all GTM locations, meticulously planning outage schedules to minimize customer impact, and determining efficient pipeline configurations to improve efficiency while maintaining operational integrity. Have you evaluated near-term proposals, forecast demand, and effectively communicated critical information to both public and internal partners, ensuring a seamless operations and service reliability? If so, then we encourage you to apply to this outstanding opportunity!

What you will do:

  • Apply hydraulic simulation models and engineering calculation tools to determine natural gas pipeline capacities for assigned US pipeline systems.
  • Evaluate numerous parameters to work towards optimal ways of flowing gas to support planned & unplanned outages.
  • Forecast and post system capacities using hydraulic models at least one month in advance and re-evaluate capacities as outage plans change. Learn to find opportunities to re-schedule overlapping outages to minimize customer impact.
  • Post system capacities internally and externally, for each location for your assigned pipelines, for every day. Monitor outage plans to ensure that the corresponding capacities are correctly posted.
  • Communicate model results to collaborators. Create, write, and present summary reports, which contain pipeline data and modeling results, in a clear & concise way such that other teams can easily understand study results and make appropriate decisions.
  • Reduce outage impacts (planned, unplanned).
  • Digitize compressor maps and turbine driver curves.
  • Support the team to develop, implement, manage, and monitor asset optimization plans.
  • Work with the Capacity Planning team to help to provide instructions to Gas Control regarding unit selection, regulator setpoints, flow patterns, and line bypassing.
  • Ensure that posted capacities can be achieved while maintaining safe gas velocities.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and maintenance of key Gas Transmission and Midstream (GTM) information systems, as needed.
  • Assist/support discretionary capital project development/implementation.
  • Help design/budget/coordinate/complete storage expansion projects, including debottlenecking and optimization studies for operational enhancements and flexibility.
  • Support planning for new facilities or facility upgrades. Help evaluate proposed pipeline & prime mover configurations to ensure operability, efficiency, and capacity needs are achieved.
