A Brief Overview The Cell Based Therapy Lab Assistant supports daily operations related to the manufacturing of cell therapy products in the Cell Based Therapy Laboratory (CBTL), a dynamic and growing clinical lab supporting the Cellular Therapy and Transplant Section (CTTS) at CHOP. Under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor, this role ensures smooth operations by maintaining supplies and equipment, facilitating logistics and documentation, and supporting quality and safety processes. This individual will work closely with lab staff and academic collaborators to support cutting-edge pediatric cell and gene therapy.
What you will do
- Specialist
- Assists in timely record filing and digitizing patients paper charts/documents
- Equipment maintenance
- Maintains and cleans medical laboratory equipment (e.g. centrifuges, CO2 incubators, refrigerator, freezers)
- Assists in shipping out the equipment for recalibration to the vendors
- Maintains cleanliness and organization in the lab locations
- Inventory
- Assists in monitoring of inventory control: maintains inventory of supplies, assures proper documentation of reagents and supplies upon receipt, logging in supporting documentation and quarantine release as per laboratory policy.
- Assists in Investigations and troubleshoots problems with equipment, procedures, specimens, reagents and/or workflow.
- Maintains the continuous supply of liquid nitrogen and pressurized gases by monitoring the stock and placing timely orders.
- Restocking: performs regular inventory check of reagents and supplies across multiple locations.
- Orders office supply.
- Limited messenger service as required
- Promptly delivers specimens or paperwork throughout the health care campus as required.
- Assists in transferring of products and between clinical sites, research sites, different testing laboratories and outside vendors
- Is knowledgeable in the use of resources to identify transport temperatures for all specimens and ensure stability
- Scheduling
- Must be flexible in scheduling and cooperation in performing all assigned tasks
- Performs other duties as assigned by the leadership team
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Technical Diploma Phlebotomy Preferred
- Associate's Degree Basic science Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- At least one (1) year pediatric clinical laboratory experience Required
- At least one (1) year Previous research or laboratory experience Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Able to work within in a project team environment (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge: basic biology, basic chemistry, English language, customer service, public safety and security (Required proficiency)
- Technology skills: electronic mail, Microsoft Office applications, typing, internet software, Microsoft Windows (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) - upon hire - Preferred

$24.87 - $31.09 Hourly
