Summary:

The HIPAA Compliance Specialist will be responsible for helping to assure compliance with the HIPAA privacy regulations and related Johns Hopkins HIPAA policies and procedures by conducting reviews and monitoring performance and activities throughout all Johns Hopkins "covered entities."




  • Maintains knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations, related state laws, and Johns Hopkins policies.
  • Understands operations across Johns Hopkins HIPAA-covered entities.
  • Conducts HIPAA compliance reviews and identifies organizational risks.
  • Develops and executes review plans; communicates status and findings to key stakeholders.
  • Follows up on findings to ensure timely resolution and policy adherence.
  • Recommends policy updates when needed.
  • Retains review documentation for six years.
  • Supports privacy investigations and assesses potential breaches.
  • Collaborates on analytics and reporting for senior leadership.
  • Manages HIPAA training, annual updates, and addresses training-related inquiries.
  • Willingly takes on additional duties and seeks efficient solutions.



Education:

Requires Bachelor's Degree in Business-related field or Health Administration. Master's Degree preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of four (4) years with management information systems or compliance data management or equivalent applicable experience.

Salary Range: Minimum 28.47/hour - Maximum 47.00/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
