It is the role of the Business Consultant to be able to serve in a variety of delivery-based roles depending on knowledge, skill, competencies and business need. This includes but is not limited to the ability to lead projects, lead and facilitate business analysis activities, manage/coordinate testing efforts, and effectively manage business relationships. The Business Consultant will establish and direct efforts of cross-functional teams and related resources to successfully plan, develop, test and implement assigned projects/project related activities.

The Business Consultant takes ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position, and takes ownership of any task assigned to his or her lead.

FOCUS

  • Ability to lead all aspects of execution activities in support of the Line of Business to achieve business goals. This includes but is not limited to coordinate, monitor and provide leadership throughout the project lifecycle to complete projects/project related activities according to plan based upon the business' requirements and defined quality standards.
  • Develop business knowledge/skills to provide consulting for the line of business.
  • Identifies, develops and executes strategies and supporting tactics based upon the defined strategy and priorities to engage and influence all stakeholders to make needed organizational and operational changes.
  • Ability to work with the business to perform GAP analysis, current state mapping and requirements for designing an effective "To-Be" future state process; identify and define detailed product requirements and use cases
  • Serves as the primary contact for the project to the business partner, building partnerships and trust through understanding of their end-to-end processes; works closely to understand strategic and business intent of projects.
  • The ability to create all necessary execution deliverables based, to include but not limited to project task lists, requirements documents, gap analysis, testing matrices, process flows, etc.
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics.

  • Serves as primary contact to senior department managers for execution related activities and escalation.
  • Responsible for analyzing present-state, developing alternative future-state approaches and facilitating project implementations.

  • Manages project(s) or project related activities with varying levels of complexity and/or may have broad scale accountability for the processes that support initiatives.
  • Ensures results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit.
  • Facilitate the development and management of financial forecasts and provides on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures.
  • Partners closely with business partners to deliver project elements, including the plan to achieve project benefits.

DELIVERY COMPENTENCIES

  • Works with Business Lead to develop business case to include business problem/opportunity, recommended solution, costs and benefits.
  • Documents business requirements to satisfy business case objectives, customer and employee impact assessments, and communications.
  • Have the ability to facilitate solutioning discussions based upon business requirements / goals.
  • Develop process flows and data mapping as needed.
  • Facilitates project team meetings, captures action items/meeting recaps.
  • Be able to define and track project milestones while defining, updating, and reporting on an overall project plan as needed.
  • Identifies project risks, evaluates probability and impact and develops/monitors mitigation plans.
  • Partner with the business to identify time to market, cost, and quality trade-off considerations related to scope to ensure agreed/approved/appropriate value is delivered and commitments are achieved within time, cost, and quality parameters. Have the ability to lead these activities as needed.
  • Develops test plans, execute test scripts and documents testing results to include defect tracking and reporting.
  • Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business units and/or teams
  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units
  • Possess and demonstrate effective communication skills/habits, both written and verbal

COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of banking/financial services is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Program/Project management methodologies, Business Analysis practices, or Test Management practices.
  • Exhibit strong listening, comprehension, questioning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional relationships.
  • Advanced knowledge of tools (e.g., MS Office, MS Project, Visio) within own area.
  • Works independently as the lead role and coaches/ guides members within area of expertise.
  • Capable of managing cross functional groups.
  • Acts as a key resource for the project team and the business.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Certifications: Preferred Project Management Certifications (PgMP, PMP, CSM, ACP), or preferred Business Analysis Certifications (ECBA, CCBA or CBAP)
  • Experience: Project Management of Complex Projects, Software Development Lifecycle, Organization Change Management, Project Management, Leadership, Relationship Management
  • Knowledge: Program/Project Methodologies, Business Analysis, Testing Methodologies, Relationship Management.
In accordance with Colorado law: Colorado pay for this position is anticipated to be between $85,153.00 - $136,024.00 , actual offers to be determined based on applicant's skills, experience and education.
