The Opportunity:

Recognized subject matter expert. Responsible for managing the ongoing alignment between the company's products and services with the needs, trends, and preferences of assigned markets and market segment. Develop effective go to market plans and productization of offerings that drive sustainable market share for Avantor and its affiliate companies. Leverage credible resources and relationships to maintain a high level of awareness and familiarity of key internal and external influencers.

Accountable for developing and implementing successful marketing plans that drive accelerated growth and profitability within life science strategic workflows. Works closely with commercial sales specialists, digital marketing, event planning, and portfolio management teams to develop, align, and execute strategies for target workflows.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops insight-based strategic marketing plans for focused workstream that show a clear line between market understanding, competitor analysis, and customer insight through to the recommendation for customer segmentation, positioning, branding and messaging; requires:

  • Ongoing monitoring and analysis of market and technical trends, as well as competitors

  • Ability to translate qualitative and quantitative insight from voice of customer into actionable insights

  • Outline best go-to-market strategy globally/regionally to ensure tactical execution to achieve revenue goals

  • Close collaboration with the Communications Team:

  • Ensure that the communication and tactical plans developed by the Communications Team closely align with the intent of the strategic marketing plan

  • Work with cross-functional partners in R&D, Product Management, and Business Development, as well as with external agency partners to provide guidance and content for tactics

  • Work closely with the R&D, Product Management, Business Development, Sales, and Communications teams to successfully bring new products (New Product Introductions) to market:

  • Translate product benefits and customer needs into compelling marketing messaging; position the new product within the overarching workflow to maintain consistency and clarity with customers

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure all necessary pieces are in place for a successful launch

  • Partner with Communications team to develop MarCom collateral to support NPI launch

  • Develop sales training materials in partnership with the Sales Leadership; lead trainings to equip salesforce with compelling messaging and technical facts for optimal customer interactions

  • Ensure regional teams are leveraging global strategy and communications materials in their local efforts

  • Partner closely with regional marketing/sales leadership to make sure they understand the Global Marketing Strategy for the specific workstream and are aware of all available materials and guidance

  • Coach regional teams on implementing global strategy locally

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Marketing, Business

  • Experience in Analytical Chemistry preferred, but not required

  • 7+ years' experience in life science strategic marketing

  • 7+ years' demonstrated experience in marketing strategy fundamentals (positioning, messaging, customer segmentation, content development, campaign measurement)

  • Track record of leading initiatives requiring organizational change/mindset shift, and/or marketing process development/implementation

  • Global Perspective: Experience working in a global environment, with an understanding of diverse markets and cultures

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

  • Strategic mind and fluency in marketing strategy fundamentals. Both an Academic and practical understanding of marketing theory and practice in the Life Science space.

  • Understands segment profitability components to develop and execute strategic and tactical plans which achieve customer and Avantor's business objectives

  • Ability to drive decisions and results while collaborating with cross-functional teams

  • Proactive, creative, and curious in approach to diagnosing problems and developing solutions

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills

  • Exceptional communication skills - ability to engage with people at different levels of the organizations, from different teams, and from different regions - and bring them along

  • Experience in complex market entry and strategic marketing programs.

  • Works well independently and within a team environment

  • Ability to maintain strong relationships with Avantor's stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and other industry colleagues.

  • Demonstrated ability in working with managers at different levels and functions within Avantor, customer, and solution provider organizations

  • Strong computer skills in utilizing MS Office package, Salesforce, Qlikview, etc.

  • Some travel required

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$121,700.00 - $202,800.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
