The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking applicants for a Program Manager with a background in managing and developing instruments/sensor or satellite projects. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day program needs for Department of Defense (DoD) space sensor systems projects. The Program Manager will work as part of a larger team with customers, Engineers, Managers, Technicians, and support personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding a customer's needs and issues, usually by direct interface
- Assembling and directing corporate resources toward execution of the contract
- Identifying, tracking, avoiding, and mitigating risks
- Trading issues of scope, approach, cost, and schedule
- Delivering the contracted result
- Managing daily activities of an engineering support and logistics team
- Pursuing new business development opportunities
- Creating and maintaining project schedule
- Recommend programmatic direction based on current and historical execution and future requirements for portfolio prioritization and approval
- Develop budget forecasting models based on technical direction, spend plans, and fiscal year budgeting constraints
- Serve as the focal point between contracting and technical leads to execute acquisition guidance based on program technical directional
- Interface with contracting to ensure required acquisition products are planned and developed timely to meet programmatic needs
- Develop and maintain programmatic expenditure and obligation schedules based on technical performance
- Communicate and represent programmatic and technical objectives for portfolio to customer leadership as requested
- Enforce contractor performance within the bounds of the terms and conditions of a given contract
- Support technical thrust area integrated project teams (IPTs)
Required Qualifications:
- BS in technical engineering, science or business degree
- 5+ years of project management or technical leadership experience
- Demonstrated supervisory experience
- Proficiency in task management
- Ability to organize and manage a team
- Experience developing program schedules and controlling budgets to meet required deadlines
- Experience leading electronic development projects or other technical projects
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while making direct contributions to team success
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Experience creating and maintaining a project schedule using tools such as Microsoft Project
- Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a US Government security clearance
- Must be able to travel
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of project management experience in aerospace
- Management and systems engineering experience of space hardware development projects
- Earned value management experience
*Level 1 Salary Range: $80,000 - $105,000
*Level 2 Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000
- 5 or more years of applicable experience and a BS OR
- 3 or more years of applicable experience and a MS
*Level 3 Salary Range: $130,000 - $175,000
- 10 or more years of applicable experience and a BS OR
- 8 or more years of applicable experience and a MS OR
- 4 or more years of applicable experience and a PHD
