The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary Reporting to the Director, Impact Programs of the Columbia University Climate School in the Office of Engagement and Impact, and in coordination with interdisciplinary faculty from the Climate School and GSAPP Urban Design, the Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the administrative and research operations of the Adaptation Accelerator partnership with The Nature Conservancy - China. Responsibilities include assisting the Director and faculty team in coordinating with The Nature Conservancy to organize events, lectures, and a symposium that bring together faculty and research associates around research projects and methods, coordination of workshops, coordinating reports and visual matter, and coordinating and contributing to research by faculty. Responsibilities include generating content for and maintaining the Climate School website related to OEI activities, coordinating press and outreach with The Nature Conservancy and others. - Financial responsibilities include monitoring and presenting the Project's budget, completing routine and non-routine financial analysis/reports, monitoring and explaining budget variances on a basis to the Director.
- May also include travel booking and planning for partners and faculty.
- Research responsibilities may include coordinating with TNC to organize events, lectures, and a symposium that bring together faculty and research associates around specific research projects and methods, coordination of resilience workshops, facilitating global workshops, coordinating reports and visual matter, including maps, drawings, diagrams, and urban design/landscape scale
visualizations and project plans, and coordinating and contributing to research by faculty and fellows associated with the Center.
- May include assisting the Faculty team and Director in implementing strategies to acquire and retain external funding (including the researching, writing, and submission of future funding proposals)
- Responsibilities include generating content for and maintaining the OEI website related to the Project, including reports, briefs, and social media.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 2 to 4 years of related experience required.
- This position will be expected to maintain a high level of organization and professional communication. The incumbent must be able to work diplomatically and collaboratively with all levels of staff, including global partners, University, and School leadership.
- Incumbent must have the flexibility, adaptability, attention to detai,l and efficiency skills required to work successfully on multiple project deadlines simultaneously.
- Incumbent must have exceptional oral, written, visual, spatial, design, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- A successful candidate must have the ability to work with standard office technologies (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- A successful candidate will have experience work in China and/or Hong Kong and be familiar with local policy, planning, and research contexts.
- A successful candidate must also be skilled in ArcGIS and StoryMaps and urban design for urban nature based solutions. Strong project management and relationship management experience and abilities.
- This role requires travel to China and/or Hong Kong.
- Applicants must be available to travel up to three times for a duration of 4-10 days.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree Preferred. A graduate-level degree in Planning, Urban Design, or a related field is preferred.
- Some experience with web design and site maintenance is preferred.
