The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Senior Associate Director, the Coordinator will be responsible for the daily operational management of the University Visitor Center for prospective Columbia College and Columbia Engineering undergraduate students, families, college counselors and community-based organizations. The Coordinator will also be responsible for University and Community Visitor Relations (tours for the School of General Studies, the historical tour and middle school visits).

Responsibilities



  • Serve on the Visitors Center Team, which includes the functions of the Visitor Center and the Events Team, which encompasses all prospect and admitted student events for Columbia College and Columbia Engineering.
  • Support the hiring, training, and supervising of 10-12 student employees who will staff the office answering phones and visitor inquiries throughout the academic year and during summer session and supervise one administrative staff member who assists with administrative work.
  • Manage the School of General Studies Tour Guide program and support the General Studies Office of Admissions
  • Coordinate visits to campus for large groups, including community-based organizations, high schools and middle schools.
  • Maintain relationships with key campus constituencies including Public Safety, Public Affairs and University Event Management.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining the inventory of materials associated with the schools they support used in the Visitors Center.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Knowledge of high volume visitor management preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in visitor/program management or related experience in higher education or related field.
  • Previous experience in managing and developing undergraduate students preferred.
