The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics seeks to hire a Technician B to join the Latorraca laboratory. Our research group focuses on characterizing the biophysical properties of a wide variety of membrane proteins to generate new approaches to drug discovery. A technician in our laboratory would support ongoing projects led by senior lab members while working to develop their own project. This position is ideal for someone interested in pursuing a future research career.

Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Perform molecular biology techniques and protein purification.
  • Develop and perform biophysical assays.
  • Maintain detailed records and analyze data.
  • Order and maintain laboratory supplies, stocks, and inventory.
  • Set up equipment for experiments.
  • Carry out fully planned experiments.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Previous wet lab experience in related techniques or areas.
  • 2+ year commitment to facilitate learning and knowledge transfer.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Desire to learn new techniques, solve problems, and adapt to challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills.
