ASSISTANT PLANT MANAGER

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Plant Manager supports the daily operations of the precast manufacturing facility with a focus on total Precast operations. This role assists in coordinating manufacturing activities, ensuring production quality, scheduling to meet the needs of customers, and safety compliance. The Assistant Plant Manager acts as a key liaison between departments, helps enforce standards, and drives continuous improvement in plant performance and workforce development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Assist the Plant Manager in overseeing all plant departments, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow coordination.
  • Ensure products are manufactured to required specifications and quality standards, meeting project timelines and customer expectation
  • Review and schedule all precast panels for production.
  • Maintain records of panels produced on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control, Engineering, and Project Managers to resolve production issues and optimize processes prior to production .
  • Analyze new projects to determine production sequence.
  • Adjust daily production requirements as jobsite schedules shift and production issues arise.
  • Participate in workforce development, including onboarding, training, and coaching of hourly personnel.
  • Facilitate lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives across departments.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Plant Manager
  • Maintain records of production and assist with delivery dates v/s production day required.
  • Assist with special project on property as they are developed.
  • Assist with safety program as requested by Safety Manager.


EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • High School graduate - some college preferred.
  • Good communication skills required (both written and oral)
  • Good organizational and planning skills required.
  • Experience with computer programs required. (Excel, Access, Outlook, Power Point.) Print reading and drawing/blueprint skills preferred.
  • Proven ability to be a team leader.
  • 5+ years of precast management experience preferred


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, occasionally.
  • Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, climb, kneel, twist, squat, crawl and use hands/forearms repetitively and frequently.
  • Ability to move around for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages and man lifts at various heights frequently.


WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements.
  • Moderate to high risk of safety precautions.
  • Moderate to high exposure to production environment.
  • Wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions (weather related) (plant specific)
  • Ability to work outside year-round (plant specific)
