Location: Waste Connections - Brooklyn, NY
Starting Pay: From $36/hr (based on experience)
Employment Type: Full-time

Hours/Schedule: Monday-Friday/ 7:00am-4:00pm- Occasional Saturdays.

Waste Connections in Brooklyn is seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanic to join our growing maintenance team. We're looking for individuals who prioritize safety, take pride in their work, and understand how critical their role is to support our drivers and the service we provide to the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, repairs, and diagnostics on diesel vehicles, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems

• Interpret vehicle computer system failure codes and make necessary adjustments to engine and vehicle control modules

• Respond promptly to roadside service calls for emergency repairs

• Review and complete repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports

• Accurately document services using fleet maintenance software

• Conduct post-service test drives to ensure safety and performance

• Collaborating with teammates on complex repairs

• Maintain professional, courteous communication with drivers

• Keep workspaces clean and compliant with OSHA standards

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of mechanic experience, preferably with diesel trucks

• Valid CDL class A license

• Ability to speak and understand English fluently

• Comfortable using computers and diagnostic software

• Proven skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and welding repairs

• Familiarity with diesel vehicle diagnostics and preventative maintenance

• Basic tool set required

• Ability to work independently and respond to emergency calls
