The Director of Advanced Fabrication will be responsible for leading, directing, and inspiring the Advanced Fabrication Specialists, Advanced Fabrication Service team, District Managers, and Account Managers to achieve top line sales growth, EBITDA performance, and customer service excellence by bringing value through managed sales pipelines, customer seminars, and efficiency analysis. Partner and collaborate with the Area Vice Presidents to build short and long term sales strategies for each area. This position is the engine for sales growth for the metal fabrication market segment.

  • Manage the Weld Process Specialist team to efficiently and effectively maintain a sales pipeline in order to execute the Advanced Fabrication strategy.

  • Manage the Advanced Fabrication service team for all equipment installations and equipment repair.

  • Manage the Airgas commercial offering for all automation equipment, shielding gases, plasma table consumables and welding filler metals.

  • Manage Advanced Fabrication assets throughout the Regional Company. Forecast and budget for future staff and equipment needs for the fiscal year.

  • Develop local vendor partnerships aligned with the Advanced Fabrication strategy to drive the segment in the region, conduct technical and product sales training and support the sales process.

  • Oversee ongoing development of the expertise of the Advanced Fab team, to ensure training and development is aligned to the needs of the markets we serve.

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe environment at all Airgas facilities.

  • Responsible for P&L (Sales & GP) to enable the region to measure the growth of all Advanced Fabrication Technologies along with the related consumables and gases.

  • Establish and maintain clear and consistent lines of communication with internal departments relative to sales plans, programs, and issues, customer success, customer failures, new customer developments, and other customer specific information.

  • Coordinate with HR to ensure appropriate focus on: recruitment/selection, retention/engagement, employee development, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must have a broad knowledge of the welding, cutting and fabrication processes common to the Airgas customer base including but not limited to: Manual, semi-automated and automated welding processes, shielding gas applications, cutting applications and production equipment used for positioning, punching, forming, bending, or rolling of both plate and structural components.

  • Outstanding people skills. Strong in-person, written and oral communication skills and the confidence to sell directly to high-level officers of customer companies.

  • Must be proficient with computer applications including but not limited to Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google slides and/or equivalent Microsoft products.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Business or related field of study preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in the welding industry with experience managing a sales force proficient at selling and servicing mechanized cutting systems, robotics and other automated welding/cutting products required (10 years preferred).

  • Established track record as producer could supersede educational requirements.

  • Financial Acumen for articulating ROC, and other metrics utilized by business professionals.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations. where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Up to 50% travel may be required.
