The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. The salary range for this position is $76,700 - $89,000.

Position description

The Touma Lab (Neonatal/Congenital Heart Laboratory), Department of Pediatrics, David Geffen School of Medicine, announces an open Assistant Project Scientist position. Eligible candidates with advanced scientific and lab management expertise are welcome to apply.

Requested qualifications for this position include:



  1. Basic bench research experience: Biochemistry, nucleic acid, proteomics (2-D and Mass spectrometry), molecular genetics, hiPSCs culture and phenotyping assays, histopathology and confocal imaging, protein-protein interaction assays, CHIP, CLIP, and CHIRP assays.

  2. Animal (mouse) breading, handling, injection methods, phenotypic characterization, cardiovascular physiology and echocardiography imaging, genetic manipulation of transgenic mice and overexpression systems.

  3. Knowledgeable in Noncoding RNA, epigenetics, and Human Stem Cell Biology.

  4. Experience in lab management and biosafety regulations.

    The appointment will be in the Project Scientist series and is a non-Senate position. Academic rank & step will be commensurate with experience.
