The Senior Director, Executive Communications will be a trusted strategic partner responsible for building and executing executive communications programs for key OpenText leaders, including (but not limited to) the President, Worldwide Sales; Chief Product Officer/Chief Technology Officer; EVP, Security Products; Chief Marketing Officer; and, at times, additional members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

This leader will craft compelling messaging, provide strategic communications counsel, and elevate executive visibility with both internal and external stakeholders. They will also partner closely with the broader communications team, ensuring excellence, innovation, and alignment with the company's vision and strategy.

What the Role Offers:

  • Strategic Planning
    • Develop and implement communication plans that align with organizational goals, foster a strong company culture, and engage internal and external audiences.
    • Anticipate executive communications needs and proactively provide counsel to advance business objectives.
  • Executive Advising
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, coaching them on communication styles and developing their personal and professional brand.
    • Provide executive presence support for high-profile internal and external engagements.
  • Content Creation
    • Draft and edit speeches, presentations, internal memos, blogs, op-eds, and social media posts for executives.
    • Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and compelling across all platforms and audiences.
  • Internal Communications
    • Oversee messaging to employees, including all-hands meetings, organizational announcements, and cultural initiatives.
    • Support change management communications for major company initiatives.
  • External Communications
    • Manage communications to key external audiences, including customers, partners, media, analysts, and industry groups.
    • Identify thought leadership opportunities and prepare executives for high-visibility forums and public appearances.
  • Team Leadership
    • Partner across Corporate Communications, Marketing, HR, Investor Relations, and other functions to ensure integration and message discipline.
  • Trend Analysis
    • Stay current on industry trends, emerging channels, and best practices to continuously innovate and evolve OpenText's executive communications.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams in global, matrixed organizations.
  • Strategic Thinking
    • Ability to design innovative communications strategies and drive initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Communication Skills
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with expertise in speechwriting, storytelling, and message development.
  • Advisory & Coaching Skills
    • Ability to advise and coach senior executives on communication strategies, executive presence, and personal branding.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Skilled at building relationships and working effectively with stakeholders across multiple business functions.
  • Experience
    • 12+ years of progressive experience in executive, internal, or corporate communications, ideally in technology or other global, fast-paced industries.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field required.

As you move through the hiring process, we're happy to provide more details about our compensation programs, including variable and commission compensation opportunities for eligible roles, vacation entitlement, and paid time off.

Salary Range: $177,870 - 292,215; Depending on the candidate's education, experience, skills, geographical location, and alignment with internal equity and external market, actual salary may vary and be higher or lower than the range posted.
