- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. 1) Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) 2) Experience A. 2 years RN in Operating Room in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) or hospital setting 3) Independent in multiple service line 4) Licenses/Certifications A. Texas RN license B. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) C. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) D. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 5) Special Skills A. Basic computer skills and EPIC CLINICAL ACTIVITIES Participates in patient care activities and adheres to requirements of RN position at a novice professional nursing level as specified in the Texas Nurse Practice Act when providing patient care as evidenced by: * Follows the standards of care related to the nursing process. * Conducts nursing assessments, assists with exams and treatment, and maintenance of medical records under the supervision of the coordinator, supervisor of manager. Practices in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles. * Addresses and resolves common contingency situations that arise in specialty area. * Documentation is accurate, legible, timely, and concise according to protocol. * Treats patients and family with courtesy, respect, and professionalism * Provides instructions, verbal and written to the level of the patient's understanding. * Stocks unit/completes routine checks on unit. * Actively participates in preoperative call process. * Other duties as assigned by Coordinator, Nursing Manager or any other member of leadership. QUALITY/SAFETY These activities are everyone's responsibility. Actively participates as evidenced by: * Follows the standards related to regulatory requirements and professional practice. * Provides and modifies care to complex patients and coordinates care with the ASC team based on evaluation of the patient's condition, supported by accurate documentation. * Improves quality and safety by reporting near misses and collaborating with the ASC Quality Team on performance improvement initiatives. * Complies with local, State and Federal rules and regulations and accreditation guidelines. * Maintain unit in safe condition as evidenced by cleared hallways, secured electrical wiring, and reporting of broken equipment promptly CUSTOMER SERVICE * Communicates any delays to family members and other team members as necessary. * Prioritizes care based on the patient's needs, abilities, and preferences. Advocates on patient/family's behalf to identify and resolve clinical and ethical concerns, utilizing appropriate resources. * Maintains active professional relationships with doctors and patients by assessing needs and levels of satisfaction with ASC services. * Explains ASC policy and procedure to patients so misunderstandings do not occur. * Demonstrates Kelsey-Seybold Mission and Values UnitedHealth Group is working to create the health care system of tomorrow.
