Here's what you will do:

  • Function as an expert for system administration, Workday best practices, HR transactions, reporting, mass loading of data (EIBs), data conversion, business process configuration and design, including advising the HR team, managers and employees in proper use of the system. Provide mentorship and workday architecture guidance to members of the HR Solutions team.

  • Lead and close various operational tasks or projects including but not limited to: Triage ticket intake and resolution with internal partners, partner with SMEs to support Annual Cycle Activities and new feature implementation, participate in rotational ownership of leading Workday updates/projects.

  • Work closely with HR leadership, business partners and technical teams, lead design and process development, gather and define requirements, recommendations, document changes for change control purposes, design and implement solutions, and ensure user ease of adoption and will support the organization in achieving optimized transactions and processes.

  • Responsible for coaching and advising business stakeholders for their ownership in Workday. Support HR in overseeing consistency in service delivery, drive standardization, and share best practices across the organization. Provide exceptional support to internal users.

  • Review, test and implement bi-annual Workday releases; Lead on determining impact, presenting suggested new features in detail with final recommendations to management on which to implement; participate in regression testing for new system features and communication of changes/benefits to end-users.

  • Manage and execute case management tickets, as well as ongoing system enhancement tasks, including configuration and testing of changes to the Workday system.

  • Maintain master data values in Workday (ex: Job Profile, Job Family, Job Group, Roles, Custom Organization Types, Positions, and Locations).

Who you are:

You have:

  • Related university degree OR equivalent combination of formal education, certification and experience.

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Workday at a specialist functional level across multiple modules (Recruiting, HCM, Compensation, Learning, etc.). Experience navigating technical and security areas of Workday is considered an asset. Experience in a large North American oil and gas company with multiple unions is considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate, lead and manage change.

  • Broad range of experience with information technology solutions for HR.

  • Broad range of experience in planning, process analysis, systems analysis, technical analysis, systems implementation and operations.

  • Direct experience providing strategic direction for applications.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with some travel requirements.

  • Work in a virtual team environment with frequent interactions with team members located in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Houston.

  • Works closely with HR Business & Technical Leads, other IT management and staff, business unit contracts and external contractors.

  • Stress levels can be above normal as the work is highly visible and decisions affect all integrated processes associated with new or changed business or operations. Numerous, often competing interests must be managed concurrently whilst negotiating/influencing within and outside the organization, e.g., ensuring that each piece of the business process stream is on-line at the appropriate time, designed in a way that anticipates unintended consequences.

  • Tight deadlines are common.

  • Periodic levels of confidentiality and adherence to security policies and procedures required to protect the integrity of any proposed acquisition.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
